Bewitching Power: Witchcraft, Power, and Violence in Ghana and Cameroon
What is reality? Who has the power to define it? Though there are people who believe in witchcraft all around the world, the idea of the supernatural is dismissed and ridiculed. Even when these beliefs are reflected in people’s actions, including acts of incredible violence, the beliefs themselves may not be taken seriously. This book explores witchcraft in Ghana and Cameroon, and the acts of violence associated with witchcraft belief, not as a subject to be interrogated or disassembled, but as a lens that can tell us more than we think about power in our own world.
